Driver arrested after driving 201km/h with wife and child in car

A 68-year-old man was arrested for driving at 201km/h on the N1 highway near the Rivonia offramp, Johannesburg metro police said on Sunday.
“He was caught clocking 201km/h in his Mercedes Benz last night [Saturday]. He was with his wife and a child,” said Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar.
He was expected to appear in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
Biker bust at 202km/h
Meanwhile, a 37-year-old man on a Suzuki motorbike was caught travelling at 202km/h on R21 (Albertinah Sisulu Freeway) near the Benoni, Ekurhuleni metro police said.
“Ten other drivers were also arrested when caught doing speeds ranging between 186 and 163km/h on the same stretch of the Albertinah Sisulu freeway,” said Chief Superintendent Wilfred Kgasago.
He said three other drivers were arrested on N12 in Alberton.
“A taxi driver was locked up when he registered 145km/h and the other two clocked 167 and 168km/h on this 120km/h zone.”
