Four injured in head on collision on Victoria road in Pietermaritzburg

Four people suffered serious injuries after they were involved in a head on collision on Victoria road in Pietermaritzburg this morning. The VW Golf and taxi collided head on, but the cause and as to who was at fault is still under investigation.
Paramedics arrived on the scene of the crash and found that the Golf was crushed and badly damaged as a result of the impact. A woman was trapped in the front seat of the vehicle and the local fire department used the Jaws of Life to remove her.
The four patients were treated for serious injuries but they fortunately remained in a stable condition under care of paramedics while they were being transported to hospitals in the area by ambulance.
No one who had been travelling in the taxi was injured in the collision.
