Crisis Medical Paramedics responded to a desperate call for assistance after 2 children had been struck by a vehicle on Castlehill Drive, Durban at 17:25 today.
First to arrive on scene, paramedics found a critically injured 4 and 6 year old lying motionless on the pavement. Immediately care was initiated and paramedics worked frantically to assist the two children. Due to the nature of their injuries, both were intubated and placed on manual ventilators to assist them to breath. They were then both rushed to hospital in a critical condition by Crisis Medical ambulance for further medical care.
On scene reports suggest that a speeding white Fiat lost control hitting both children who were walking home at the time. The driver was arrested on scene by SAPS members and will be charged. Further comment can be sought from SAPS management.
