KZN Transport and Safety to hold 2 day summit on Crime Prevention
KZN MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Willies Mchunu, will hold a two-day Crime Summit in the Inanda Cluster, on 15 and 16 October 2015.
Some of the issues the Summit will tackle include finding solutions on all forms of crime that has beset the Inanda Cluster, including, attacks on foreign nationals, murders at KwaMashu Hostel, political violence and the maiming and killing of police officers.
The Summit takes place against the backdrop of a series of violence, mayhem and murders in the Inanda Cluster, especially at KwaMashu Hostel where members of political parties and safety structures have been shot and killed. It also follows the recent attack of two police officers that were overpowered by suspects that disarmed and stripped them of their police uniform before locking them at the back of the police van and shooting the officers.
The Summit will provide a platform for robust dialogue in the form of commissions and report back presentations. It will also develop and adopt resolutions that will be considered for implementation to ending crime in the Inanda Cluster.
Mayors, the SAPS, Traditional Leaders, KZN Community Policing Forum, KZN Community Crime Prevention Association, the National Prosecuting Authority, Youth Sector, Non-Governmental Organizations and Government Departments will form part of the delegates.
