Thirteen injured in Utrecht taxi rollover
Thirteen people were injured this evening when the taxi they were traveling in overturned on the R34 Utrecht Road outside of Newcastle.
Paramedics arrived on the scene shortly before 6pm where they found all of the occupants outside of the vehicle. One of them was found with serious injuries and another with moderate injuries. Eleven others were found with minor injuries ranging from scrapes and bruises.
All of the occupants were treated on the scene before they were transported by various services to Madadeni Hospital. One occupant was transported to Mediclinic Newcastle.
The exact cause of the collision is not yet known. It is understood from the occupants that the driver apparently lost control when he swerved for another vehicle.
Local authorities attended the scene.
