Seven injured in Tuesday UThungulu district crash
Paramedics from KZN Emergency Medical Services have responded to a crash which sadly claimed two on the R34, about 20 km from Empangeni. Reports from the scene are that the collision was between a bakkie and a car. The crash left the road partially obstructed and the bakkie came to rest on its roof.
Paramedics also treated seven patients at the scene. According to the paramedics who were on scene five of the patients had sustained serious injuries, while two of the patients had sustained only minor injuries. It is believed that several of the injured patients had been sitting on the back of the bakkie when the crash occurred and that they were ejected from the bakkie and landed on the side of the road.
The patients have been stabilised and transported to hospital for continued care.
The exact cause of the crash is not known at this stage and will be investigated by the police.
