A man has been critically injured after being hit by a truck earlier this afternoon on the N2 highway, about 1.5 km north of EB Cloete interchange.
One of the senior managers from the KZN Departments of Health Emergency Medical Services came across the scene. He called for further assistance before starting to treat the critically injured man, who is estimated to be about 35 years old.
The KZN Departments of Health EMS helicopter was used to airlift the critically injured patient to hospital. Airlifting the patient meant by-passing the traffic on the roads which are congested due to the holiday traffic.
The exact circumstances resulting in the man being knocked by the truck are being investigated by the police.
As EMS we remain on high alert as traffic volumes start to increase in KZN.
