14 people were left with minor injuries after a fish trawler sank about ten nautical miles from Cape Point, Western Cape. The incident occurred earlier this morning. It is believed that the fish trawler was allegedly struck by a container ship that lead to the ship sinking.
ER24 paramedics along with the NSRI were standing by to receive and assist all the occupants of the ship who, fortunately, were able to escape on life drafts.
After assessments, paramedics found that all injuries were minor and consisted mostly of shock. ER24 transported one patient to Mediclinic Cape Town for further treatment.
