Early yesterday morning EMER-G-MED’s RV5, A04 and A10 responded to reports of a mass casualty incident on the the corners of Heidelberg and Houer, in City Deep.
Just after 06:00 paramedics arrived on the scene to find that a taxi and a bakkie had collided, leaving a passenger of the bakkie dead and multiple others injured.
One patient required Advanced Life Support care and, once stabilised on-scene, was transported by RV5 and A04 to a nearby trauma facility for urgent specialist medical care.
The remaining patients sustained minor to moderate injuries and were transported to hospital by EMER-G-MED and various other ambulance services.
JMPD’s specialist Accident Investigation Unit were on the scene to investigate.
