Three injured as bakkie and car collide, Pietermaritzburg.
Three people were injured this morning, one seriously, after a bakkie and light motor vehicle collided on the N3 between Ashburton and Lynfield, outside of Pietermaritzburg.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found both the vehicles on the side of the road. The bakkie was found amongst some of the bushes.
When paramedics inspected the scene, they found the male driver lying inside his bakkie in a serious condition. The two occupants of the light motor vehicle, a man and woman, were found walking around the scene with only minor injuries.
Paramedics carefully extricated the seriously injured patient and provided him with advanced life support intervention. Once all three patients were treated, they were transported to Mediclinic Pietermaritzburg, Northdale and St Annes Hospital.
The exact cause of the inci9dent is not yet known.
