Man seriously injured in shack fire in Eastwood, Pietermaritzburg
A man, believed to be in his 60s, was left seriously injured this morning after his shack caught alight on a property on Honeysuckle Road in Eastwood in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu Natal.
Upon arrival at the residence, ER24 paramedics found the patient sitting in front of the main residence being tended to by two people.
Paramedics assessed the man and found that he had sustained numerous burn wound to his neck, back, arms and one of his legs, leaving him in a serious condition.
Paramedics treated the patient and provided him with advanced life support interventions while fire services extinguished the shack fire.
Once treated, the man was transported to Greys Hospital for further treatment.
It is understood that a fire broke out in the shack at the back of the property. The patient was pulled from the shack by the residence in the main house.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
