Four suspected drug dealers arrested in possession of heroin in Durban

KwaZulu-Natal, Durban: Four suspects were arrested today in the Sydenham area and drugs to the estimated street value of R1 Million recovered at a house. The arrest follows after members conducted an observation for the past week. The suspects were caught red-handed busy filling capsules with heroin. A total of 15 000 heroin capsules, 2kg of heroin powder and 100 000 empty capsules were recovered. The arrested suspects are set to appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court soon.

In a separate incident, this morning at 10:00, members from Port Shepstone POP Project Team and POP Unit members were on duty in the CBD area at the taxi rank, doing crime prevention duties. Members followed up on information received that led to the arrest of a 26 year old woman who had 378 capsules of heroin in her possession. Shortly afterwards a 26 year old male was also arrested with 25 capsules of heroin in his possession. The combined street value of the drugs is R18 360-00. The two suspects were detained and will appear in court on Monday 2017-03-27 on charges of Dealing in drugs.

The station commander of Port Shepstone, Brigadier Sandra Nala, has welcomed the arrests and praised the members for exposing the drugs dealers in the Port Shepstone policing precinct. She also pointed out that in depth investigation will be launched into the drug activities so that the drug suppliers can be identified and dealt with.#DrugsOffTheStreets
