The MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Mr. Mxolisi Kaunda, will officiate the opening of main road P296 in Dannhauser today (10 October 2017) as part of the October Transport Month (OTM) 2017 activities.
This year’s OTM programme showcases government’s service delivery progress across the transport portfolio including roads and transportation infrastructure, rail, aviation, traffic management, road safety awareness and socio-economic transformation programmes.
Main road P296 is located between Osizweni and Buffalo Links in the Dannhauser Local Municipality under the Amajuba District. The upgraded road P296, which links Jokisi and Tayside townships, has already shortened the travelling distance for local communities, creating a safe, all-weather access route to Dundee. It has increased public transport services on the route, benefiting learners attending school, patients to health institutions as well as connecting communities.
MEC Kaunda will be joined by mayors from district and local municipalities, councilors as well as traditional leaders and other transport industry stakeholders.
