The KwaZulu-Natal South Coast’s sub-tropical paradise of Margate is again the host destination for the annual South Coast Bike Fest™ – Africa’s premier motorcycle enthusiast and music festival which is set to take place from 27th – 30th April 2018.
The inaugural 2017 event, which grew in the tradition of previous biking festivals in Margate, attracted a record number of close to 60 000 festival visitors and an impressive set of the headline and fringe musical acts that created an almost Caribbean ambience and relaxed fun-filled vibe.
The event set along the palm-fringed beachfront boulevard of Margate hosted a melting pot of culturally diverse offerings from jazz, rock, headline contemporary, reggae and Afrikaans music; to street buskers, marching brass bands, trade vendors and pop up food villages. Bike enthusiasts travelled from around Africa to attend the famous resort town’s seaside festival.
The event is presented by Ugu South Coast Tourism with endorsement and support from Ugu District and Ray Nkonyeni Municipalities. CEO Mr Justin Mackory was pleased to announce that, “the 2018 South Coast Bike Fest™ has been fully endorsed by our board and it is all systems go for the biggest event on our tourism calendar.”
“In 2017, we introduced the South Coast Bike Fest which exceeded all expectations – Margate and the greater South Coast is clearly the biker’s choice to have that ride to leisure break and enjoy the top class entertainment and bike related activities.”
“We anticipate that the 2018 festival will be truly great with bikers and the public having a splendid time on the south coast”.
All pre-registered motorcycle riders and pillions will have free access to the entire event precinct including the main stage headline artist performances.
The non-biker public will be charged a nominal fee of R60 per day to enter the event precinct with full access to the 3 main beach festival stages, beachfront boulevard themed bars, street entertainment, demo rides, trader, expo zones, stunt shows, food courts, EnduroX staging arenas and all associated motorcycle enthusiast festival activations including the ever popular mass ride.
Accommodation establishments are already reporting a massive influx of bookings over the event period and according to festival partner representative, Peter Snyman of the Club Leisure Group “the 2017 South Coast Bike Fest™ ran at full occupancy levels throughout our KZN South Coast properties and we are already experiencing energetic earlier bookings from within the motorcycle fraternity for the 2018 event.”
