Suspect arrested in Athlone with abalone valued at R2 million.
Western Cape: In the continuous fight against crime, members of Athlone police conducted a crime intelligence-driven operation last night, which resulted in the arrest of a suspect for the illegal possession of abalone, valued at R 2 million.
Information of illegal activities at an informal dwelling at Pook se Bos, Rylands Athlone was pursued, which led police to the suspect’s address, where a large quality of abalone was discovered.
The 25-year-old suspect is due to appear in the Athlone Magistrate’s court on a charge of illegal possession of abalone on Monday 19th March 2018.
