One person has been killed and another has sustained moderate injuries after the vehicle they were in lost control and crashed into a river on Inanda Road in Springfield Park on Sunday morning around 9am.
Rescue Care Paramedics arrived on the scene to find a single vehicle had left the roadway and crashed into the river, the vehicle was submerged in water. The driver a male believed to be in his twenties had sustained major injuries and unfortunately there was nothing more Paramedics could do and he was declared Deceased on the scene. The Passenger had sustained moderate injuries and was stabilised on the scene by Advanced Life Support Paramedics. Once stabilised a rescue operation was taken to bring the injured man up from the river below by SAPS Search and Rescue and Durban Fire Department. Once brought to an ambulance the man was transported to a nearby hospital for the further care that he required.
At this stage the events leading up to the collision is unknown however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
