Upgrade for Main Road P435 in Umkhanyakude District
Main Road P435 is located from P522 to Ndumo Gate in the Umkhanyakude District, Empangeni region, under the Jozini Local Municipality. It falls under the Mathenjwa Traditional Council and iNkosi Mathenjwa. It serves the communities by improving access to the Usuthu-Tembe-Futi Transfrontier Conservation area as well as improving access to the Ndumo village. It also provides access to 5 schools, police station, library, Thusong Centre and a clinic.
The project comprised upgrading 17.3 kilometres of gravel road to a 7-meter-wide, type 4 main road as well as the construction of 1 major structure.
The project was completed during the 2017/18 financial year at a cost of R141 million.
