Suspect arrested in M4 rock throwing incidents
Durban – KZN police have confirmed that a suspect allegedly linked to two rock-throwing incidents of the M4 has been arrested.
Police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele said the 27-year-old suspect faces charges of malicious damage to property and is expected to appear in the Verulam Magistrate’s Court on Friday morning.
According to Mbele the first incident the victim was travelling with his family on M4 South at Umhlanga on Wednesday morning at around 6:20 am when an unknown man threw a rock damaging his vehicle bonnet and windscreen.
The second incident took place an hour later at around at 7:30 am a 54-year-old woman was travelling on the M4 north on the off-ramp when the suspect threw a rock damaging vehicle windscreen.
“The driver sustained minor injuries due to the broken glasses and was taken to hospital for medical attention. The suspect was searched and was found at a taxi rank where he was arrested.”
