The Mooi River Nhlesi Bridge is located in Umsinga Area on L2985. This project falls under Ward 13 in the Umsinga Municipality.
This bridge is the link between the villages and surrounding areas, and it assists the local community by providing safe travelling as they cross the river. The bridge also encourages economic development in the communities. It also provides easy access for emergency services such as ambulances, SAPS, etc, and facilitates the safe transport of agricultural goods, farm livestock and general amenities to neighbouring urban towns.
The project comprises the construction of a new reinforced concrete vehicle bridge across the Mooi River. The structure consists of a 96-metres long, 6.250-metres wide and 6 spans of 16-metres high.
The budget spent was R17.1 million. Construction was successfully completed in the 2016/17 financial year and created about 50 job opportunities for locals with 2150 person-days.
