Vehicle recovered with suspected explosive items, suspects sought
NELSPRUIT – Police received information regarding a suspected stolen silver SUV with a Mpumalanga registration number plate.
It is alleged that the motor vehicle was stolen in the area of Brondel near White River at gunpoint and police received a notification on their technical devices. The astute police wasted no time but immediately began to trace the vehicle.
Police followed leads to various areas where the vehicle was travelling, including Kabokweni and Masoyi near White River.
Later the vehicle was found left abandoned by suspects in a place called Chweni in Masoyi near White River. By the time the police arrived at a place where the vehicle was, the suspects had already fled the scene
On inspection of the vehicle, police found what is suspected to be explosive items and the bomb squad was summoned to the scene to assist. The Forensic Team also visited the scene.
Police call on anyone with information that can assist in apprehending the suspects of this crime but not to confront these suspects on their own as this might put their lives in danger, however, members of the community can call police on 10111 or anonymously call Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
