An elderly man was airlifted to hospital following a collision between a car and truck South of Magaliesburg
A man in his 60s has been airlifted to hospital after being critically injured in a collision between a light motor vehicle and a truck at the R24/R400 intersection near Orient Hills, South of Magaliesburg around midday today. Three other men, including the truck driver, suffered minor injuries.
ER24 paramedics arrived at 12:07 to find the Fire Department already busy with the extraction of the entrapped, critically injured man. An Advanced Life Support medic from another service treated him on the scene while our crew tended to the other three injured. One man from the Polo declined transportation to the hospital, but the other two were taken to both private and provincial hospitals in Randfontein for further care.
Our ER24 ALS medic then assisted with the extracted critically injured man, who was then airlifted by a private medical helicopter to a private hospital for further care. The South African Police Services and the Mogale Metro Police were on the scene for further investigations.
