MEC Mchunu to address crime summit in Northern KZN
The KZN MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Willies Mchunu, will address a two-day Crime Summit in uNdundulu, under the Mthonjaneni Local Municipality on the North Coast of KwaZulu-Natal on the 24th and 25th of November 2015.
The Summit is part of Safety Month (November), which includes redoubling and intensifying efforts to fight crime in the province by placing the communities at the centre of all crime fighting initiatives.
The Summit will include robust discussions on finding solutions on all forms of crimes that have seized the uThungulu District. These include murder, school violence, faction fights and stock theft. The summit takes place against the backdrop of a series of incidents in the uThungulu District, including the recent killing of an 18-year old learner who was brutally killed by three suspects and the arrest of 22 community members for blocking the road during a protest.
Mayors, the SAPS, Traditional Leaders, KZN Community Policing Forum, KZN Community Crime Prevention Association, the National Prosecuting Authority, Youth Sector, Non-Governmental Organizations and Government Departments will form part of the delegates.
