Netcare 911 paramedics and their rescue unit responded to a two-vehicle collision on the M1 in Chatsworth. Reports from the scene indicates that two vehicles collided, the one vehicle then left the roadway and collided with a tree.

The Netcare 911 rescue unit and paramedics from the provincial services arrived at the scene and found a female still trapped in the wreckage of the Golf. After triaging the injured it was found that a female was in a critical condition while another patient sustained serious injuries.

Paramedics clambered into the wreckage of the Golf while the Netcare rescue officer first removed the doors and pillar ( side removal ) so that the medics could immobilise the patient. The rescue officer then did a roof flap so that the patient could be removed from the crumpled remains of the vehicle.

After the two patients were stabilised at the scene medics transported them to local hospitals in the area for the care that they required.
